Don’t Become A Slave To What You Crave

cravings

Cravings are the brains way of getting us to give our body the nutrition it is in need of replenishing. The brain will make connections with the food we eat and the nutrition it can derive from those meals and that becomes what we crave.

I have heard the phrase, “I could eat a triple stack burger with the works!” The brain has made the connection of getting much needed protein from that burger to replenish what has been used in the day. Protein is a re-builder not your main energy source.

Our brains have created neural pathways connecting foods and nutrients. That does not mean that those foods are the right foods to supply that nutrition. It is possible to reduce that meat/protein craving with seeds, nuts, pseudo grains and dark leafy greens for a more easily digested, therefore healthier, more slimming option for protein. Or to take sugar out of your diet and give your body quality fats and complex carbohydrates, aka sugars, for a more sustainable energy source.

Retraining your brain is not hard. Our body will take the path of least resistance for our best health. Contrary to popular belief, that path is actually plant-based foods because those are the foods that got us to where we are today.
