Eating clean is the true fountain of youth. Ingredients in the food you consume, will dictate the state of your entire existence. Not only is the ingredient you choose imperative, how an ingredient is produced is just as important.
You can eat cherries, but if they are sprayed with pesticides, then you’re eating pesticides and that negates the benefit of the cherry. Thin skinned foods do not give you the protection from bad chemicals like a thick rind or shell. Of course, the soil that grows the food does not have any luxury of a thick exterior, and the soil is where the food that fuels us derives its nutrients.
There is a quote I read many years ago, that sticks with me to this day, “Man—despite his artistic pretensions, his sophistication, and his many accomplishments—owes his existence to a six inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”
The fact that Celiac disease is on the rise, more children suffer nut allergies and our mental and physical health is in a state of decline beyond our scope of comprehension or ability to address is, in large part, due to the lack of proper nutrients in our food.
The soil stored nutrients from the oceans water when the earths land was covered. When that water receded, and plants grew from that dried ocean bed, we, as humans, evolved from those densely nutrient rich plants. A deer eats leaves and berries and can grow to be a very healthy 300 pounds. It processes nutrients from the plants, that absorb nutrients from the soil, that received nutrients from the water’s ecosystem.
We may have differing opinion, appearances and tastes but we all have the same basic biological needs. To remain younger, healthier and evenly balanced, our diet is the first step. We cannot achieve any such place without taking care of the land. Its inhabitants, that we feed off of, are the source of life. The earth is not here for us, we are here because of the earth. If we don’t take proper care of the earth, it will not take proper care of us.
